191 mini ramp. 1988?

In the late 80's I built a mini in my back yard. I had no experience with ramp construction and I had no plan. I started screwing wood together and ended up with something that very loosly resembeled a half pipe. It was four feet tall, twelve feet wide and had uber tight transitions. It went almost to vert in just four feet. It was a challange to ride but I loved that ramp. I skated it every day!

If you are searching for impressive skate footage then keep looking, you wont find it here. What you will see is an authentic 80's afternoon of skating my back yard creation! Fasten your seat belt, we are about to go back in time!

The best part of that video is NOT the following:
-the crazy 4' vert ramp
-the Tracker tank top
-the fact that prices 20 years ago are still about the same for gear
-the tie wearing peanut gallery
-the early grab frontside air (WTF!?) How the hell do you do THAT!?
-the cool music

No, the BEST part of that video... that's right, there's only one thing left...

THE HAIR! Tony McSqueeb! Rock on man. Rock on, indeed!! ;)

That's pretty cool. You look almost the same as you do today. And after 20 years, most people couldn't bend, balance, or breath well enough to keep that pace. But amazingly, you're still doing it! Even better!
The videographer did a nice job, too.

And my favorite part... still... is the tongue in the lip action (which probably no one but me would be able to point out! Ha ha ha!)

ok, I swapped out the blogger vid for a vimeo version that seems to look a little better. I can't have my Aussie hair sprayed 80's bangs looking pixelated! :)

K- that is RAD! Were those the Madrid Vans you were rockin? Dang Man, nothing beats a backyard mini.

Thanks Jeff, The Van in the vid is similar to the madrid but it is a different model. I believe it was an early Cab or a predecessor to the cab. It was a great shoe, I would defiantly skate a well done re-issue of that.

-the crazy 4' vert ramp: I eye-balled the radius and drew it with a sharpe

-the Tracker tank top
Now I know why girls avoided me.

-the fact that prices 20 years ago are still about the same for gear.
Unbelievable! But now you get less wood! :)

-the tie wearing peanut gallery
That is my Step Dad, he was a radio D.J. the laugh you hear is his sister but it looks like he is laughing! Funny!

-the early grab frontside air (WTF!?) How the hell do you do THAT!?
I learned the "Wrong way". Bad habit I am still trying to break!

-the cool music
Electric, the best Cult album but their best song was Sanctity off of "LOVE" IMHO.

The hair... That's my next style! "You don't mess with the ZO-von!" hahaha!

Lots of good times out there!

Not "completely" sure who it was, but the videographer did a great job, too!
By the way, your voice is a little different now as well. :-)

I think Doug's sister shot most of it. She showed up one day with a new video camera and wanted to try it out. You can hear her talk in a few shots.

My next 80's vid edit is going to be the infamous trip to Moab!

That was AWESOME!! I love the hair, and I too noticed the tounge action! haha, however the only thing that has really changed is your voice. That was enjoyable! LOL
